I'm making a bath out of epsom salts and jasmine tea?

I'm making a bath from epsom salts and jasmine tea for my mom. It calls for 500mg of salt and 2 teabags of jasmine. She has sore muscles and most products we've bought make it worse. I'm sure the epsom salts will help but don't know about the jasmine tea. Can anyone tell me what jasmines good for And any other idea's for sore muscles?I'm making a bath out of epsom salts and jasmine tea?
The jasmine root is used in China to treat headaches, insomnia, and pain due to dislocated joints and broken bones; it is reported to have anaesthetic properties..Several Jasminium species have been used in cancers. Make sure you use 2c. of Epsom salts to help pull out the lactic acid that forms on the muscles. After the bath have your mother massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles.

500mg of calcium and magnesium taken daily will help reduce the pain in muscles.

How can I create bathing suits that dissolve only in salt water? How to market them without letting peole know

I'm sure this is meant as a joke, I can't imagine buying some girl a swimsuit that would dissolve away while she's on the beach, how embarrassing that would be for her. The only viable market I can see would be down at the local peep store where you can buy all sorts of twisted paraphernalia. There a girl would probably buy one for herself just to have it happen, she could play innocent and get her kicks. And as others have already posted, it's a bad idea opening yourself up to all kinds of legal trouble...I would file that idea in the waste basket. How can I create bathing suits that dissolve only in salt water? I'm sure there's a way to do it-at least in theory. You may want to ask a question in the Chemistry section. (is there a fiber that dissolves in saline but not in pure water?) I'm not as sharp on solubility rules as I used to be.How can I create bathing suits that dissolve only in salt water? How to market them without letting peole know
I am so down that is a money maker. You would make a ton of money just selling them at spring break areas. You find out and make it happen because now you put the idea out there and someone is going to snag it.
Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I think you need to go and invent something useful like a cure for aids or something worthwhile.

i think that he will definitely be just fine. my mothre is a nurse and taught me the right things to do in these cases, and what you did sounds perfect. however, only keep the sock on for a little while because you need to get some air into so it can scab over. continue applying the cream every now and then to prevent infection, and your dog's paw will be as good as new. it helps that it has an owner who cares so much about it!

-love yaMy dogs paw (pad) has a wee nic on it I have bathed it with salt water, put antiseptic cream, a bandaged?
yes he will be fine, that part of the paw has a good blood flow hence the blood lose, but if he's ok now he will be fine till you take him to vets the antiseptic cream is not necessary, and if the nick is not that bad and has stopped bleeding it will not need to be covered for long, ring your vet before you go tomm as you dont want to pay fees if he does not need to go really. good luck
It should be fine, you may not even need a Vet clean it with a dab of peroxide, the cream your using and a bandage, your doing everything, the reason to go thru it every day is to make sure their are no signs of infection, any swelling, tenderness or limping getting worse, get to the Vet, it is a hard place to heal and is prone to infection
if it just a small nic then take the sock off and let the air get to it. Your dog will want to lick the wound - let him. Dogs have natural antibacterial qualities in their saliva which help any wound to heal. My dog often nics his paws - he licks them and they heal very quickly. Let nature take it's course.
I'm sure he'll be alright until the vet. Dogs are very resilient creatures and with all of that care you gave him, I don't think one day of waiting will be the death of him.
He'll be okay! The same thing happened to mine. Just make sure to keep him somewhere cool, because if he's outside in the heat worms can start to grow in the meat of the opened wound.
He should be fine
he will ok

Would bath salts effect acne by ur face mixing with it in bath?

getting your face submerged in water with bath salts is a lot trickier than you would expect. of course you will get the benefits of soaking in sea salts as it helps cleansing and exfoliating the skin. you just have to see what works for you and your skin. there are essential oils that also helps acne-prone skin.Would bath salts effect acne by ur face mixing with it in bath?
Well, I don't usually put my face in the bathwater. I prefer to wash it with clean water in the washbasin, separately. There are lots of anti-acne cleansers you can buy, which should help. If you mean there is a theory that bath salts on your face helps, I very much doubt it!

  • Some time ago someone gave me a recipe for bath salts for fibromyalgia. Does anyone know that recipe?

The one ingredient I remember it had in it was ginger. I can't remember the rest. If anyone has it, I really could use it cause I remember it really worked for me. ThanksSome time ago someone gave me a recipe for bath salts for fibromyalgia. Does anyone know that recipe?
Relaxation - Spa Quality Bath Salts Recipe

    1 cup dead sea salt

    1 1/2 tablespoons dendritic salt

    15 drops english lavender oil

    10 drops chamomile essential oils

    1. Add Lavender and Chamomile Essential Oils to Dendritic salt and mix well. Dendritic salt holds scent better and longer and also helps to prevent clumping.

    2. Once mixed well, combine with Dead Sea Salt and mix well once more.

    3. Begin filling tub with WARM - NOT HOT water. Add up to 1 cup of Bath Salts Mixture and let dissolve while filling tub.

    4. For maximum benefit, soak at least 15 minutes to allow the body to absorb the therapeutic minerals and oils. I have myofascial pain and fibromyalgia and this helps when my back and legs are giving me fits. It works best if you splurge a little and purchase good qualty ingredients, but also works with the cheaper supplies. Some time ago someone gave me a recipe for bath salts for fibromyalgia. Does anyone know that recipe?
    Hello,

I'm not familiar with baths for fibromyalgia, but I know of a great natural product that could help. Go to www.GoXanthones.com and listen to the audio link by Dr. John Edwards on fibromyalgia. He has been using mangosteen..(a source of Xanthones) for his patients with fibromyalgia.

When you'd like to try mangosteen to see if it might work for you , go to www.mangosteendiscovery.com and order some online. 100% money back guarantee!
Just use epsom salts in the bath and boil some fresh ginger in water, then pour the mixture into the bath. This should draw out toxins and give you energy.
You have fibromyalgia and you can get into a bathtub? My mom has it and she can't do much of anything. It's horrible.

The salts draws out the toxins from your body. The best way to experience this is to use warm water for your skin's pores to open up and make it easier for you to sweat out all all the toxins in your body.

Bath Salts To Clean Cartilage Piercing?

I've searched everywhere and I can't find sea salt to clean my cartilage piercing with but I bought a bag of 'Bath salts'

They are 100% natural and are from the Dead Sea

Will this be okay to use to clean my piercing as a substitute for sea salt?

Thanks x I will select a best answer for 10 points also xBath Salts To Clean Cartilage Piercing?
After looking at what is in the Dead Sea water, its concentrations of minerals are very different from sea water that is evaporated to create regular sea salt. I wouldn't use Dead Sea salts on a fresh piercing since they contain much more than sodium choloride and trace elements. These salts should be fine to take a bath in once you are healed, but its not worth irritating your new piercing. Epsom salts are also not appropriate for a new piercing because of their chemical make-up.

To find sea salt, check the grocery store. It should be in the spice/salt section. An employee will be able to help you find it. As another option you can check out the pharmacy section and find packaged saline solution. Ask the pharmacist where to find it since it can be mixed in with several different sections.Bath Salts To Clean Cartilage Piercing?
I wouldn't use sea salt to clean your ears

    Use and Ear Cleaner.

You can buy as Bottle at Claire's :]
Yes a sea salt solution is what you should be using!(i used it on mine)

Make sure it is pure sea salt though.

Heat eight ounces of distilled, bottled, or purified water to about luke warm.

Use about 1/4 a teaspoon of sea salt. And shake well.

You can check out H2ocean it is premixed and ready to go. It is great for piercings.

You can also go and check at all local piercing parlor in your town and see what they have(if you haven't already).

    Or try Witch Hazel.

You should never use ear cleaning solutions from places such as Claire's because they contain, alcohol and peroxide. Neither of which you should ever use on a piercing.

You can look here at other information.

  • Type of salt in a Sitz bath?

Hi, maybe this is a dumb question but can I use Morton's table salt in a sitz bath or does it have to be sea salt? I recently had surgery down there and they were reccomended but I don't have any sea salt on hand so I was wondering if it the only kind you can use. Thank you :)Type of salt in a Sitz bath?
You don't have to use anything in a Sitz Bath if you don't want to. Just water, warm or hot enough the way you like it.

Is it OK to use Epsom Salts in a jetted bath tub?

It's an American Standard corner tub with 10 jets - if that matters. Is it OK to use Epsom Salts in a jetted bath tub?
We do ours sometimes! Did you know that once a month you need to fill you tub above the jets and put in some powder automatic dishwashing cleaner and let it run for about 30 minutes? It helps keeps the jets and all the pipes cleaned out. I was told that when I bought mine and I've been doing it with good results. Is it OK to use Epsom Salts in a jetted bath tub?
I paid a fortune for my bath. I'm too mean to pay for the 'correct' products. I just use smaller amounts of ordinary bath products and lo and behold four years on, I've not had a problem.

If you decide to risk it, I hope you're as lucky as the others who risk it too.
Different manufacturers and installers have different opinions on whether bath (emsoms) salts are safe for a jacuzzi. I used to have one and I used Mr. Bubble on several occaisions and never had a problem. Mr. Bubble is strictly forbidden in these types of tubs. Personally, I would not think that one time would matter, especially if you rinsed it out after using it.

  • Adding salt to a bath?

is there really any benefit to doing this?

if so how much salt should i use?

and can i use any type of salt?Adding salt to a bath?
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is good for this. Helps in the relief of pain due to fibromyalgia and osteoporosis, muscle pains, and helps smooth rough patches of skin. The body's magnesium level increases when soaking with magnesium sulfate, which is necessary for serotonin, a mood-regulating neurotransmitter that may increase feelings of relaxation and well-being.Adding salt to a bath?
It is hugely beneficial! It especially helps with sore muscles, so if you're athletic, I'd definitely recommend doing it.

Generally you should buy Epsom salts from really any drugstore-or even Walmart. The directions of how much to use will be on the back of the container. Though, generally, for a normal size bath, you'd use anywhere from half a carton to a whole one.
YES.. Salt is used by Nurses for cleansing wounds. Its better on your skin than most alchole types.

I use a hand full of sea salt that I can buy at the local grocery store. Much cheaper than the jazzed up ones.

There are different salts you can buy from the basics to different ones with added aromatherapy blends. Health Food stores are where you generally find these. Great Stuff!
Salt is a very good antibacterial agent so it will kill germs and help with minor wounds, spots, piles etc.

Any salt will do but if you use a very strong solution you will need to rinse with clean water afterwards,
I use 2 cups of epson salts.. it works great for sore muscles

Why do people use bath oils and/or bath salts?

Both salts and oils are used for relaxation.A lot of bath products contain essential oils, which can benefit in many ways. Some help to reduce tension, cure aching muscles, help to unwind ,or even help to sleep better,eg Lavender. Salts also have some properties which can benefit the skin, nervous system, etc. I love to relax in my bath, I always have candles, soft music, oils its the best way to end the day.Why do people use bath oils and/or bath salts?

Epsom salt sitz bath and pregnancy?

Not sure if I had lost my plug (revert to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a> would it still be okay to take an epsom salt sitz bath (for hemorrhoids)? I know it's encouraged to not take baths after you lose your plug, but just asking just in case. I want to know what you people know and have experienced, rather than to call my doctor right away, so before I do that, please don't tell me to. Thanks in advance!Epsom salt sitz bath and pregnancy?
The sitz bath shouldn't be high enough to enter your vagina, let alone travel up to your uterus and get near the baby. Also, your bag of waters hasn't broken, so that's yet another barrier. I think it'd be fine. Have you tried the tucks pads? That's what I've used so far since hot baths are generally a no no during pregnancy.Epsom salt sitz bath and pregnancy?
Lol, well, a true sitz bath is only a couple of inches deep at most(they make tubs for that purpose? I never knew that, always did it in the regular tub after my c-section) You put the couple inches in there with the salts, and sit straight up and down, don't lean back. ;)

Bath of Epsom or Sea Salt for Body Acne?

I have been considering soaking in a bath with salt to help with body acne but am unsure as to which might be better between epsom and sea salt (on a message board, a person said they would not recommend epsom but did not state why). I was also wondering how much should be put in and how long one should soak for. If anyone has experience or feedback in relation to this, it would be appreciated. :)

    *Here is something I found:

How is sea salt different than epsom salt?

Epsom salt is rich in magnesium, but lacks calcium. While magnesium is necessary to maintain the health of both the cardiovascular system and muscle tissue, the effects are more beneficial when combined with calcium.Bath of Epsom or Sea Salt for Body Acne?

Actually I have been using epsom salt as a scrub for a couple of days now and I can say i've noticed a difference already. I tried the bath,It says to put two cups per gallon of water, however I do not know how long should you be soaking in it.Good luck
The most common form of Acne is named Acne Vulgaris. This type of acne can be easily identified by looking at the characteristics of the lesions, there are serveral products that can help you eliminate acne completely.

a good online resource is :

    http://charticles.atspace.com/acne.htm
I don't think Epsom salts will help you. Any body scrub with either sugar or salt will help slosh away dead skin but it doesn't have to be Sea Salt.

In fact, most scrubs have a lot of different oils mixed in so I'd be careful about which one to use because they may end up clogging your pores even more. I'd suggest using Neutrogena Body wash. My little sister uses it for her back acne and it seems help a lot with breakouts!

Have you tried Witch Hazel? I had a friend who rubbed witch hazel of her arms for the acne. You can buy a bottle (just a few dollars) at any drugstore on the medication aisle. It's a green liquid and it smells a little odd (not bad, just odd) but the smell evaporates after a few seconds and it does not live a residue behind.

Why does an ice water bath get colder when salt is dissolved in the water?

the dissolved salt lowers the melting point of water thereby lowering the temperature ice waterWhy does an ice water bath get colder when salt is dissolved in the water?
Drinking water is often collected at springs, extracted from artificial borings in the ground, or wells. Building more wells in adequate places is thus a possible way to produce more water assuming the aquifers can supply an adequate flow. Other water sources are rainwater and river or lake water. This surface water, however, must be purified for human consumption. This may involve removal of undissolved substances, dissolved substances and harmful microbes. Popular methods are filtering with sand which only removes undissolved material while chlorination and boiling kill harmful microbes. Distillation does all three functions. More advanced techniques exist, such as reverse osmosis. Desalination of abundant ocean or seawater is a more expensive solution used in coastal arid climates.

The distribution of drinking water is done through municipal water systems or as bottled water. Governments in many countries have programs to distribute water to the needy at no charge. Others argue that the market mechanism and free enterprise are best to manage this rare resource, and to finance the boring of wells or the construction of dams and reservoirs.

Reducing waste, that is using drinking water only for human consumption, is another option. In some cities, such as Hong Kong, sea water is extensively used for flushing toilets citywide in order to conserve fresh water resources. Polluting water may be the biggest single misuse of water; to the extent that a pollutant limits other uses of the water, it becomes a waste of the resource, regardless of benefits to the polluter. As other types of pollution, this does not enter standard accounting of market costs, being conceived as externalities for which the market can not account for. Thus other people pay the price of this water pollution, while the private firms' profits are not redistributed to the local population victim of this pollution. Pharmaceuticals consumed by humans often end up in the waterways and can have detrimental effects on aquatic life if they bioaccumulate and if they are not biodegradable.:-)Why does an ice water bath get colder when salt is dissolved in the water?
I don't know but don't they put salt on icy roads to melt the ice? Perhaps you should re locate the question to the science part of this site.

Other than candles and bath salts what is the best way to get a woman to relax/de-stress?

While bath salts, candles, and a massage are very nice. All us woman manage to do during those things is think about everything around the house that we should be doing instead. So... My favorite, is when my husband does things that make my day a little easier, and lets me sit down and take a load off. Like cook dinner, and clean up afterwards. Or give the kids a bath, and put them to bed without asking me to help. Its relaxing, and kind of a turn on too.Other than candles and bath salts what is the best way to get a woman to relax/de-stress?
Give her your credit card.its that simple :o)Other than candles and bath salts what is the best way to get a woman to relax/de-stress?
    cuddle!
    Massage...............dope?
win the lottery get her a slave and then maybe just maybe this will help !!! depends how long you have been with her she may need a new man !!!
what about a lovely massage/hand/foot rub..or a foot spa..aromatherapy candles/yoga/meditation or a nice indoor picnic %26amp; bottle of wine whilst snuggled up watching dvds on the sofa? candles!! XX
A massage, good conversation, a nice meal, snuggling in front of a movie, alchohol, or a new pair of pajamas.
a large glass of spirits. some time alone. extra money to spend.

a trip to a warm island.
You have a lucky woman. I like good beer- Guinness Extra Stout, Sarnac Pumpkin Ale is pretty great right now, a beer called Purple Haze. A warm bed. A good man. I am also a firm believer that we could all probably have a bit more sex in our relationship.
    Go to your favorite spa.
a lovely bottle of wine, a long and warming hug, the house work done and the dinner cooked!
    Sex. Seriously.
    A nice relaxing massage : . )
    back and foot massage!
Massage is always nice! You don't even have to be good at it.

Go to The Body Shop and get some Massage oil, and just do your best.

    She'll definitely appreciate it!
start by asking if she wants to talk, she will already start to think about how her mood makes you feel this will start to make her think about relaxing. Then get her a nice glass of wine tell her you love her and ask if she would like to choose a film to watch this evening. a massage whilst watching the film with go down well.
Gentle stroking of the back, neck, bum, possibly back of the legs.

Also a good long foot rub always goes down well with me!

    Or an ALL OVER massage.

BUT ALWAYS ASK IF ITS OK, WHILST YOUR DOING IT.

So say is that OK? Would you like me to do it harder? Softer, any where else you would like me to massage?

Or, just plain and simply as her what she likes!

Coz its her your doing it to. So who would know better than her!
A massage with quiet music and low lighting (scented candles) - it's good for both of you . . .
I can understand the candles, but surely the salts must hurt
cry out whole heartedly, go shopping, get a body massage, watch ur favourite movie, treat ur self...
Fu!k the candles and bath salts, massage is good, real good!! Or money to go spend on ANYTHING she wants, and it has to be a LOT OF MONEY so she dont get depressed when she sees something she really wants and cant have. A holiday to somewhere nice, a toyboy, sex or understanding from someone who she has been at logger heads with for a considerable amount of time. To be respected, understood and to feel free is the only way a woman cannot feel stressed.

Make sure no bills are in sight, no worries are on the cards and no demands from kids.

OH and a spliff realy does work if you want an instant relaxer. Trust me, if she dont smoke weed, then give her a brandy and coke. LISTEN to what she says and give her compliments. Make her life easier when she gotta get up for work. Get up 10 mins before her, run her bath, make her coffee/tea and toast, put the radio on a love station and watch her get ready and give her compliments as she is getting ready. She is shore to have a good day then. Or at least she will know you have TRIED, which to women is the MAIN thing as men ALWAYS somehow seem to get it wrong.

Goodluck mate. !! some women are non-pleasable.

Tell her you'll be her slave for a day... bet she has you doing all sorts...lol
Glass of champagne and some chocolate cake.
Give her a massage! The other benefit of this is that if she is your honey, she'll probably be so impressed, that you'll get some!
BATH salts? Wow, I didn't know it was the medieval times. Um, a crisp walk outside first, a glass of wine, cozy blankets, perfect temperature, maybe a degree warmer than that, low lighting, make up a lie that she looks good, and then don't try anything- that will relax her.
    yay
A good old neck and back massage with oils, and I love my feet massaging too, I could sit there for hours with someone massaging my feet. And No, I aint into kinky.
I think that the bath salts and candles work great if I can find quiet time to do this. If I can't, sometimes I just need a few hours of complete down time with no kids or husband. I know that is nearly impossible. My bed is the safest down time that i have once a week on a Sat. or Sun. afternoon.

Why do epsom salt baths make me feel awful?

I read that they're good for relieving stress and healing wounded muscles, so I tried it out a couple of times. But each time I came out of the bath, I immediately got a pounding headache and I was out of breath and felt drowsy. I only soaked for about 15-20 minutes each time. Anybody have an answer? Why do epsom salt baths make me feel awful?
hmm.. i don't know unless your body is allergic to it.. Your bath water might be too hot though. When I get out of my hot tub and the temp is set too high, i get a really bad headache and throw myself into bed and go to sleep.

They sell products in the drug store for soaking sore muscles and that is what I use after working out and it works great. they have that smell like muscle rub, some people don't like it, but i do! good luck

How much is too much when using Epson salt in baths?

my mom told me soak in Epson Salt baths, but how many times a week is too much? How much is too much when using Epson salt in baths?
it doesn't really work like salt that we use on out food, its more like a base ( baking soda )just use 1/2 cup per bath, and you'll be fine...as many as you needHow much is too much when using Epson salt in baths?
You may use the salt each time you bathe.
when your arms and legs get numb you know you're using to much!
u can use it at least twice a week but once is enough. moderation is the key, don't over do it.
depends what your using it for, once a day is enough usually though

Would like to know by tomorrow please... about salt or sugar for bath?

i saw this question asked not to long ago and i was interested... I'm gunna be by myself tomorrow and i like to take baths when im by myself. I saw a question asked recently about taking a bath in sugar or salt...so my question is whether or not salt is better than sugar for your skin...i was wondering if anyone out there knows the benefits of using salt rather than sugar or sugar rather than saltWould like to know by tomorrow please... about salt or sugar for bath?
I mix oilve oil and sugar and while in shower and massage well in my body. After shower, my skin feels extremely soft and glowing.

However combination of salt and olive oil would act as an exfolient and removes dead cells and impurities, as salt is known to remove impurities.

So i would suggest you to try the combinations whichever you feel is apt for the moment...Would like to know by tomorrow please... about salt or sugar for bath?
no..i'm not a expert at it. but i do think i seen alot of like salt balls...and stuff for bath...and i would salt is better
I'm pretty sure you mean 'bath salts' which is very different than just plain salt. I think plain salt would dry out your skin.

I did a little searching on Answers and apparently you can rub brown sugar or white sugar on your hands/feet/elbows as an exfoliator, but no one mentioned taking a bath in it.

Use bath salts, bubble bath or if desperate Epsom salts which is really for other use? If you get to the store try bath salts or bath beads.
Maybe you should use salt. Sea salt would be better because it's more natural. Like the dead sea in israel. It's got loads of salt that it makes you float. It's so cool. And what some people don't realize is, that it's actually good for your skin!
salt is used to like relax you and to sooth cuts if you have any. sugar is good to use on your skin as an exfolient it leaves your skin really smooth, soft, and radient!

Do epson salt baths really detox the body? What is the deal with coffee baths too?

I hear stuff about it, but never tried it, but if it works, shoot I';m game...Do epson salt baths really detox the body? What is the deal with coffee baths too?
Yes, Epsom salt baths can help detox the body. The salts support and enhance the bodies鈥?immune response by stimulating lymph and blood circulation. The key ingredient is magnesium, which regulates a couple hundred enzymatic responses in the body.

Also, according to the Epsom Salt Council:

    ';Epsom Salt also delivers sulfates, which medical research indicates are needed for the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Studies show that sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and help to detoxify the body's residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Studies indicate that sulfates are difficult to absorb from food, but are readily absorbed through the skin.';

I use a footbath of hot water, epsom salts, and herbs/spices every time I feel a cold coming on, with great results.

I would not take a coffee bath unless you're willing to deal with side effects -- that much caffeine absorbed through the skin would be a lot for the body to deal with.Do epson salt baths really detox the body? What is the deal with coffee baths too?

Where can I find some aromatic bath salts?

bath and body works, walmart, bed bath and beyond, and avon. they all have them ^.^Where can I find some aromatic bath salts?
The best place to find bath salts is a good health foods store. This ensures you're getting PURE salts, not a bunch of possibly toxic chemicals from drugstore products.

Another thing to do is to make your own salts! It's cheap and easy, You just need 100% pure Dead Sea salts (available in bulk online at www.herbco.com ), a container of pure Epsom salts from the drugstore, and some coarse sea salt (I like La Baleine brand for this purpose). Mix in equal amounts and add to bath for an excellent muscle soak. If you want to add scent or aromatherapy, add some skin-safe oils and let the salt mixture to cure in airtight containers for two weeks before using, shaking salts every few days to evenly disperse oils. These make AMAZING gifts, too!Where can I find some aromatic bath salts?

  • Does anyone here know why diabetic are advised not to take epsom salt baths?

It's not the salt, but the very hot water you dissolve the salt into. Diabetics are advised against anything that deals with hot stuff as some diabetics suffer from neuropathy and wouldn't be able to tell if the water was to hot and could possible get burned. It's a CYA thing.Does anyone here know why diabetic are advised not to take epsom salt baths?
?? Because of absorbing the salt?? Just a guess.

Anita, I think you are probably correct. You could get one of those yellow ducks that shows the water temp. like they have for babies. You can get them at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.Does anyone here know why diabetic are advised not to take epsom salt baths?

    Sea salt detox bath?

why do you get tired after soaking in a sea salt bath?Sea salt detox bath?
There are a few factors unto why you feel tired when soaking in sea salts. One is the drop in body temperature, and the improve circulation. When your body temperature drops it somehow triggers your body to sleep. The improve circulation you'll get from bathing also makes it more inclined for you to sleep.Sea salt detox bath?
sea salt baths actually wake me up but one reason could be the sudden drop in your body temperature, when you take a bath your body temperature rises then when you get out of the bath it suddenly lowers

and your body temperature also lowers when you are going to sleep so its the same reaction

Epsom salts are really relaxing, good for the muscles and cheep. Add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil (available at any health food store) and you will be sleepy in no time. Lavender is a natural seditive. Also you just need 3-4 drops of the oil, so even though its about $15 for a 1/4 ounce bottle its still a great deal.

Will bathing my dog in salt water or baking soda kill the fleas?

Also will putting salt water on the sofas, and coach kill fleas and their eggs. I have used dawn dish washing liquid but I saw two more fleas walking on the dog, he got re-infested, though most of them did die. Will bathing my dog in salt water or baking soda kill the fleas?
Using salt in the environment helps to kill fleas if used with diatomaceous earth (food grade from a health food store not pool stuff).

Use after you vacuum (be sure to freeze the bag in plastic and then toss) just spread the mixture and leave down for a couple of days and vacuum again.

You can use the diatomaceous earth as a natural flea powder but it is drying.

Salt water doesn't really help--using a water dip or shampooing for a minimum of 15 minutes will kill the fleas on a pet but not on surfaces.

Don't use harsh dish detergent--using a gentle oatmeal pet shampoo will work better and soothe a pet's skin.

Adult fleas are only part of a flea infestation...only 5%. You will need to treat the home and yard at the same time you treat the pet.

Below are some links that may help. Will bathing my dog in salt water or baking soda kill the fleas?
Sprinkle food grade DE on him. Spread it thru your carpet and dog bedding, couches, everything. Get a new bag for your vacuum and Do a quick vacuum. Then change the bag. You can also sprinkle that stuff in your yard and everywhere.

It will take a day or so and you will be free of fleas, ticks, along with any other ants, spiders, etc. in your yard or house.

HOWEVER, that stuff will destroy your vacuum so make sure to change the bag often.

DE is also known as Silicon Dioxide. It is not only safe for your pets, kids, you, but it actually has some health benefits. Some people use it as a dietary/vitamin/supplement. It will cleans your body of any kind of parasites in days, you can even put a spoonful of it in your dogs food and it will rid them of worms and brighten their coat.

I see the person above me mentioned Seven, that's great stuff for the outside, but it is 80 percent DE. The other stuff is hazardous to pets in large amounts and children as well. It will work like a charm though.
I have never heard of these methods. I would recommend a monthly treatment like drops. Frontline and Advantage are good brands (but I do NOT recommend BioSpot). My puppy is on Comfortis which is a newer product so the fleas haven't had a chance to build up a tolerance to it yet, and it's a tablet rather than a drop. It works really well - totally worth the money!!! I haven't seen it in stores yet, but you can get it from your vet.

To help get rid of fleas in your house try some of the sprays that can be bought in pet supply stores - they work pretty well. Also, Seven dust can be used for outdoor areas, places your dog lays, etc.

PS- If you are worried about the cost, trust me- much cheaper to nip fleas in the bud w/ good products! And you can probably lay off the flea meds in the winter if you live in an area with cold winters!
Errr no. How about you buy a product that is designer to get rid of dog fleas? Come on, it's not even expensive. You can get flea spay, flea collar, flea shampoo, flea tablets, stuff to treat furniture, etc. There's no room for silly home remedies when a dog's welfare is at risk.
Fleas are not only annoying, they can harm your dog's health. By sticking to a regular flea control routine using the newest products, you can keep your dog comfortable and safe from most flea troubles.

Is this a brand name? or are you referring to dead sea salts and essential oils in general?

Dead sea salts are used in balneotherapy and are just nice to add to a bath. Balneotherapy is therapeutic bathing, submersing the ailing body in highly mineralized waters (achieved by using sea water or other naturally mineralized water, or by adding salts and algaes to water) containing sulfer, potassium, manganese, etc... The idea is that these minerals are absorbed transdermally and a balance is achieved in a subtle way. The balance refers to the idea that the mineral content of our bodies and the sea are very similar, and the subtle method is well tolerated by the very ill, young or old. This treatment has been in use across continents and decades.

The essential oil portion of your question is a bit more difficult to address because there are so many essential oils, each having different uses and cautions. Essential oils are effective in treating the skin as well as the body. A few drops added to the bath with a carrier oil or solubol is generally considered safe. An of the shelf product will likely contain a very low percentage of essential oils that are user friendly. If you are interested in treating a specific condition, I would suggest that you make your own blend and educate yourself on the uses and contraindication of each essential oil you are considering.

Essential oils are concentrated botanical oils. They are the volatile compounds (evaporate easily) that give many plants they're scent. They are used to add a pleasing smell to your bath salts and are preferable to artificial fragrances. Essential oils also carry with them some of the herbal properties of the plants. For example lavender is a soothing herb, known for calming the nervous system. It takes bushels of fresh lavender flowers to make an ounce of essential oil, and only a few drops to scent your bath and soothe your nerves.

Epsom salts in a warm but not scalding bath are wonderful for aches and pains. Doing this nightly will help you sleep better. Your Biggest problem will be getting in and out of the tub safely. Have you installed handrails? And be sure and put something in the tub to prevent you from slipping as you get in, and an anti-slip rug for when you get out.

While you are in the tub, try to do some stretching exercises and a bit of mild exercises while your body muscles are warm. The more strength you can put in your muscles, the easier it will be to get in and out of the tub safely. But heat and warmth, especially in these cold months, will help you much more than a hot shower.Does using epison salts in a bath help with aches and pains?
A lot of people use Epsom salts to help alleviate body pains. They usually soak in it or add it in their baths.

Goldfish almost died so I put in in a saltwater bath, and now he is better, do i put salt back in his bowl?

or should I keep him in the bath, I dont know what to do, I have never had a fish before but I wanna take care of it good, and I know a bowl is bad, now, but I will get a bigger tank soonGoldfish almost died so I put in in a saltwater bath, and now he is better, do i put salt back in his bowl?
Giving your fish a bath, in salt or otherwise, is not going to help him. He needs a tank, not a bowl, and he needs it to be large, cycled, and well filtered.

For a single Fancy Goldfish, you need a minimum of 20-gallons. A single Common/Feeder Goldfish requires 50-gallons. Both need filtration rated for at least 2x the aquarium's volume. These are fast growing and messy fish, and without adequate room and filtration, they will soon die, either from stunting, poisonous water, stress, or a combination thereof.

If offered proper housing, you will not, as another suggested, need to get used to them dying. Goldfish should live from 10 years to well into their 20's, depending on the species.Goldfish almost died so I put in in a saltwater bath, and now he is better, do i put salt back in his bowl?
The only way your fish is gonna survive much longer is if you set him up in a proper tank NOT A BOWL with A FILTER. Goldfish DO NOT breath AIR only betta fish breath air.

Please try to get him in a tank with filter as soon as possible but until then do frequent water changes, and monitor him.
goldfish don't really like to have a particularly salty environment. you might want to add a little bit of salt to help along the healing but it should mostly be freshwater
.... i've gone through dozen of fish the longest one lasted 6 months ur going to have to get used to seeing fish die p.s. u have to clean out a gold fishes bowl every 3-5 days beacuse they give off a posionios acid
    eat it
actually, your spossed to put your fish in rubbing alcohol after the salt bath.

To get the mix to freeze at 5oC how many gams of salt(NaCl)is need to add to 5kg of ice bath Kf of water=1.86?

I suppose that you find the grams of NaCl needed to have a f.p. of - 5 掳C

    i = 2

    5 = 2 x 1.86 x m

    m = 1.34 = moles NaCl / 5 Kg

    moles = 6.72

    Mass = 6.72 x 58.44 g/mol =392.7 g

    Can angelfish take salt baths?

I`m about to syphon my 45 gal. So far I have an angelfish and 2 pictus catfish. I know catfish cant have saltbaths but can angelfish? If so then I will put my angelfish in a bucket by itself and add some salt and put my pictus in a different bucket. Can angelfish take salt baths?
You only go to such measures in emergency situations - salt is an irritant to fish and this type of treatment is not meant to be used regularly or lightly. Done properly the Angel will survive this procedure though, but I hope you know why you are doing it and how to do it.

edit: a salt bath is different - this technique briefly exposes the fish to high amounts of salt to treat certain illnesses.

Some people add salt to their tanks regularly, some people don't. But the stress of moving the Angel to a bucket just to expose it to a bit of salt just isn't worth it and is counterproductive.

These are freshwater fish and they really don't need salt. fish are best kept healthy by being kept in properly stocked and maintained tanks. It's a proven fact that small amounts of salt won't harm them, but at the same time it's a proven fact that they don't need it.

Salt doesn't prevent stress, it just helps them to deal with stress. Stress is reduced through proper stocking and care and in a good home fish won't be stressed in the first place!

Some things you hear about salt are true, but much of what you hear is also myth. I have never added anything other than plain old conditioner to my water and am happy to report 15 years of disease free tanks and nothing but long lived fish. Forget additives because they just complicate matters; just take care of them properly and save the salt to help with an actual problem. Keep it simple and less will go wrong. Can angelfish take salt baths?
Salt baths are used to treat things like Ich or other parasite infections. Changing the osmotic pressure can help treat those problems, but I wouldn't add to the stress of the water change by putting them into a salt bath unless you have a reason to do it. I'd keep the angelfish in the tank during siphoning unless I had a reason to remove it. They can damage their fin rays pretty easily, so don't unless there's a reason.
NO DO NOT add salt they ARE NOT salt water fish you can just take a piece of glass that will fit between the other glass and suck all the water out one side add fresh water to that side take a fish net switch them FAST! and the do the same with the other side and there you go then you can take the glass out.

    鈾?Hope this helps!:)
Does the angelfish have a fungus that you're attempting to treat with the salt bath?? I have used this method to help with treating an ill fish for certain diseases, but would not use this on a healthy fish, or for any other reason other than treatment of a specific illness that responds to a salt bath... It's not helpful to your fish to stress it out for no reason.

Making love in bath w/ espon salt?

My wife and I are planning a vacation and one of her fantasy is to make love in water. We have tired it once and it didn鈥檛 really work out due to dryness issues. I heard Epson slat softens the water; is it safe to make love with Epson salt added to the water?Making love in bath w/ espon salt?
Absolutely safe. As for the dryness in water issue.....well it doesn't really make sense does it (I've had this problem too)...I mean, its not like there isn't a whole lot of wetness going on! Maybe suggest to your wife to use some lubricant beforehand to make it easier once in the water. Have fun!!Making love in bath w/ espon salt?
    SURE. ENJOY.

I love Martha Stewart's recipe for making the salts. Personally, I use epsom salts (sea salts can be expensive even if you buy them on Amazon or ebay).

The problem with the recipe is that I hate the floating herbs.

This is the recipe I give for Christmas gifts.

One note about it. Essential oils are cheaper on Ebay. If you use one scent, remember to use the same number of drops (you can get an eye dropper from a pharmacy for a dollar). Mix the salts but make sure it's not too wet. The salts should be scented, not soaked... and keep them in a tight container.

PS, I never add food coloring or any other additives. Natural coloring is fine.

Essential oils are sold in some natural stores but I've rarely seen them in stores like Target or Walmart.

There are also great recipes for Bath ';bombs'; online that are just as easy (Martha Stewart has the recipe too) and the ingredients are also cheaper on ebay.

Can a baby of five months join mother in an epsom salts bath?

Lol, What? (to the other answers). Yes, it is perfectly safe. Epsom salts are only magnesium sulfate and perfectly fine to bathe in with baby. Don't let baby ingest any of the water.

I bathe with my 3 month old all the time and sometimes use salts. Those colored scented ones are epsom salts with dye and fragrance.

EDIT- I agree not to get them near her eyes, but a bath of them is fine. However I don't think 3/4 cup to probably 50 gallons is going to sting in the least, the term ';salts'; is kind of misleading- it isn't like it's sodium chloride or anything.

And soaps and oils are full of *far* more harsh stinging chemicals- for gosh sake, soap is made with *lye*, one of the most caustic agents known to man.Can a baby of five months join mother in an epsom salts bath?
No you cant bath you baby in epsom salts. A baby should only be bathed in natural ingredients with no chemical etc as their skin is sensitive to harsh salts and other minerals commonly found in adult bathing salts.

If you want to bath with you baby try using dermeveen or natural instinct products they are natural. Can a baby of five months join mother in an epsom salts bath?
I would avoid it in case any gets into the baby's face. Insted of epsom salt you could consider a gentle lavender bath. It will soothe both mother and baby and wont sting the baby's eyes.
i was told it was fine dont let it get in the babys face. but i would ask the pediatrician just to be on the safe side.
    NOOOOO!

  • Bath of Epsom or Sea Salt for Body Acne?

  • Other than candles and bath salts what is the best way to get a woman to relax/de-stress?

    ~a massage, any kind!~
My bed is the safest down time that i have once a week on a Sat. or Sun. afternoon.

Is you put something like salt or food coloring in your bath and get in, does it do u any harm?

me and my friend were disscussing it.Is you put something like salt or food coloring in your bath and get in, does it do u any harm?
no, unless you have some sort of allergy or somethign to begin with. Food colouring and salt are safe to consume, and unless you have a sensitivity skin-wise to them, you should be okay. you might stain your skin with the colouring or the salt might burn a cut or something but it is all relativly harmless for the average person.

Will taking sea salt baths rust the drain pipes and other connected plumbing?

The waste pipe should be pvc / copper or lead in an older house, it could rust the waste hole %26amp; plug chain if it is a chrome one. Will taking sea salt baths rust the drain pipes and other connected plumbing?
It's possible, if you do it often enough, and the drain pipes are steel. But that's unlikely in a newer house. Most of the drain pipes are PVC - a plastic - that won't rust. If you can go in a basement and see the plumbing under the bathroom, look for the larger lines that are say 3-4 inches thick. If they're plastic, you have no worries.

But it could damage the metal fixtures in the tub. After the bath, give everything a good rinse, to wash the salt off of them, and that will help keep them in good shape. Will taking sea salt baths rust the drain pipes and other connected plumbing?
Salt in high concentrations could corrode pipes however in this situation it is unlikely. First because the concentration level of salt used in taking a bath isn't that high or your skin couldn't handle it. Secondly, one element that needs to be present for rust to form is oxygen. Drain pipes do not have a lot of air in them, thus hampering the chemical reactions needed to form rust.

But if you don't keep the fixtures such as the faucets or spout cleaned and free of the salt, they will get corroded and rust. That's because they are out in the air where they get all the oxygen needed.
I hope not as I do this all the time. Wow thanks for making me think about this.

I don't know about putting salt in the bathwater, but you can make a good exfoliating scrub with salt and oil. It leaves your skin really smooth. The only thing is that if you have any cuts on your body, even a tiny one, it stings so badly! I prefer sugar scrubs myself: you can make a great sugar scrub with normal granulated sugar, olive oil, and a bit of flavouring if you like (e.g. vanilla or peppermint essence).
Salt is great on eggs, potatoes and most foodstuffs. Bathsalts are perfumed and will ruin fish and chips.

Should i give my white oranda goldfish a salt bath ?

I think my white oranda golfish has got fin rot because i can see the veins in his tail quite clearly and his tail looks quite split at the ends. I have tried treating it but nothings changing and he just floats at the side of my filter doing nothing, should i give it a salt bath and if so how because i have another fish in the tank a (fantail). Answers would be very helpful a.s.a.p. thanks laura.

    Fish tank =

    17 litre

    2 fishes

    fantail

    white oranda

the shop tells me i can have three fish in my tank so it is bi enough :).Should i give my white oranda goldfish a salt bath ?
I'm afraid the Oranda's fins may either have ammonia burns or finrot. Either problem is serious, and both are caused by poor water quality.

yes, giving it a salt bath is good because a salt bath can greatly reduce stress and encourages new slime coat growth. The bath can restore a goldfishes vitality by repairing damage done by lack of oxygen, chlorine, chloramines, ammonia, nitrite or nitrate poisoning. It also eliminates parasites and bacteria.

    heres how:

How to give a goldfish salt bath

Using your fresh water source (tank or room temperature) fill an appropriately sized (free of contaminants) container for the goldfish or amount of goldfish you are going to bathe. If you are certain that the water parameters in your main tank are good, you can use your tank water which may reduce the stress on the goldfish. If you are uncertain, use your freshwater source matching temperature within 3 degrees. If you have, use water treatment that eliminates chlorine and chloramines; add proportionately following directions.

Sea Salt; 1 tablespoon per gallon: (use table salt variety for emergencies) Dilute salt into 1/4 cup warm water making certain that granules have dissolved; and mix thoroughly into the prepared tank. Recommended treatment time 30 minutes to 1 hour:Should i give my white oranda goldfish a salt bath ?
Good lord, some people don't listen. Fin rot is caused by a bacterium fully capable of withstanding MARINE conditions. To kill it with salt, you would also have to kill the fish.

A salt bath would be virtually useless-- the bacteria responsible for fin rot and septicemia (the reddening) tolerate marine conditions, so salt would do nothing. A much better choice would be treating the entire tank (which should be nearly 115 liters!) with tetracycline, minocycline, nitrofurazone, kanamycin, oxytetracycline, or similar broad spectrum antibiotics.

it doesn't really work like salt that we use on out food, its more like a base ( baking soda )just use 1/2 cup per bath, and you'll be fine...as many as you needHow much is too much when using Epson salt in baths?
You may use the salt each time you bathe.
when your arms and legs get numb you know you're using to much!
u can use it at least twice a week but once is enough. moderation is the key, don't over do it.
depends what your using it for, once a day is enough usually though

Why salt must be added to the ice bath?

write a brief explanation of why salt must be added to the ice bath for the determination of the freezing point of your solution of p-dichlorobenzene in cyclohexane. Why salt must be added to the ice bath?
Properties of solutions depend on the concentration of solute particles. The freezing points of water solutions are always lower than pure water. This change in freezing point can be calculated using T = (Kf)(m)(i), where Kf is the molal freezing point depression constant (1.86掳C/m for water), m is the molality of the solution, and i is the number of particles produced per formula unit. Why salt must be added to the ice bath?
When salt is put onto ice, the sodium atoms and chlorine atoms break apart. Chlorine is more electronegative thus it will obtain a negative charge and the sodium will have a positive charge. These atoms with an overall charge associate with ice, decreasing the number of hydrogen bonds. A decrease in hydrogen bonds means that it will turn into water. As the salt disassociates into the water bath , the hydrogen bonds will reform, thus producing ice again. In effect the salt lowers the freezing point, and as it disassociates, the freezing point will rise.
did you take that question right off your homework???

Do any companies sell Dead Sea bath salts from Palistine rather than Israel?

I am afraid you will be hard pushed to find salts not produced by Israel as they have the land and of course the dead sea under their controlDo any companies sell Dead Sea bath salts from Palistine rather than Israel?
calmnsoothe.co.uk imports dead sea bath salt from Jordan and sells in the UK. A certificate of origin accompanies every order. It is owned and run by a psoriasis sufferer.

I have a question about a salt bath?

How much salt do i need to put in a salt bath.

My fish has velvet(I'm pretty sure)

And I'm not going to be able to make it to a pet store for a day or so.

I'd like to see if a salt bath helps.

To kill the bacteria and hopefully get rid of the fungus on her head.

(Female guppy)I have a question about a salt bath?
Velvet is a parasite, not a bacteria, and salt really won't have much affect. What you need is to first ensure that it is velvet, or columnaris, or fungus-- without a proper diagnosis, you won't be able to effectively cure it. Any of the commercially available Ich medications, especially those containing copper sulfate or malachite green + formalin, would be much better, more effective choices for velvet and fungus, while antibacterials like Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, Furan 2, Maracyn 2, Maracyn TC, TC Capsules, Kanaplex, and similar medications would be best for columnaris.

If salt is your only choice, roughly 4.5 teaspoons of salt per gallon for about 20-30 minutes would be your best bet. If you see the fish losing balance or showing other obvious signs of distress, move it back to freshwater immediately.

  • Questions about using an epsom salt bath?

My muscles have been really sore and I have heard that epsom salt baths work great for that. I have a few questions:

    1. What else can Epsom salt bath do besides relax muscles?

    2. How many cups should I put in the bath because the salt container says 1 cup per gallon but how much does an average bathtub hold?

    3. How long should I soak per day and is there any side affects for soaking every day?

    4. I hear that I need to drink more water (this is fine because I drink lots of water) but is that true and how much?

ThanksQuestions about using an epsom salt bath?
Dont do it too often or for too long. It is magnesium and you CAN have too much.

Betta that breeds to take salt bath?

I have a betta male, he is already building his bubble nest, but I have noticed that he has a tiny red edge to a small part of his tail fin. It is really small, and I already made a 50% water change, with aquarium salt and a general tonic, about five days ago and three days after that again. That seemed to help, it got smaller and less red. But now, it doesn't seem to go away, always returning to another spot.

So, even if he is building his nest, can I give him a short salt bath to get rid of the red spot for good?

If yes, then can someone just tell me the concentration of salt to water?

Please and thank you.Betta that breeds to take salt bath?
Yes, you can give him a salt bath, but it may or may not help. If it's finrot, the best thing to do is simply to keep his water clean and warm. Often times that will clear it up. If it doesn't, then I'd suggest a finrot specific medication.Betta that breeds to take salt bath?

Costipated Betta- How often Epsom Salt Bath? How Much?

New owner to female Betta. As per instructions, I was giving the little girl 6 pellets a day. Found out previous owner was only giving 2!!! She hasn't gone ';number 2'; in about 6 days.

3 days ago gave small amount of Pea only. 2nd day fed nothing. 3rd day tried spinach (she spit it out). Put her in a small bowl and gave epsom salt bath (1/2 tsp to 1 gallon H20). Still nothing-very worried as this is my daughter's pet and I love the little critter! When i put her in the bowl she flipped around a bit. is this what is called stress? I've read about adding various amounts of epsom salts-some say as much as 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon. What is a good amount? Should I keep giving her baths daily or is this too stressful. She doesn't seem like a fragile fish: plays in filter stream and rarely hides. I hope someone will help-i've tried to give this girl a really good home. She lives in a 5 gallon tank w/ filter at 76 degrees. Is the bath in small bowl too stressful? Can I add salt to big tank?Costipated Betta- How often Epsom Salt Bath? How Much?
When you offered the pea, was is the inside of the pea only? Smashed?

Typically, you can give a salt water bath for 5-10 minutes with the salt at 3 T per gallon. You pull the fish and try putting her back in her water.

Obviously, don't feed her any more food. She is in danger of becoming egg bound if she's constipated, and that gets more tricky.
